Well I saw a House show Ryan Harvey today while I stopped in San Antonio....(If you don't know who he is look him up)
This was the most punkest thing I have ever seen in my life.....There was primarily crust Punks and Anarcho-Punks, but still REALLY diverse.
Anyway back on topic.......Me,Ryan, and his Crust punk friend went to the local Walgreen's to get some Drinks and food.(Vegan food and 40 oz primarily.....I had water....) The Clerk's eyes basically burst into a Stare of suspicion.....The man in front of us didn't even get a I.D check, but he bought Smokes and some Bud Light. The clerk tried rushing us out of the store and double checked for I.Ds....He also like looked at the camera to make sure it was on or something.....
How do you feel on this situation and this topic in general.....

Re: Judged on appearance..
Shit......I missed that....
Anyway this happens commonly.....Especially to people who aren't afraid to to dress or express how they feel........If you have Liberty spikes and Dirty Studded and Patched up clothes people will get scared. Mostly store owners. They look at me and my friends like we have a bomb strapped to us.
It's just stupid ass douche-bags mainly......

Re: Judged on appearance..
I think everyone has judged someone on their appearance at least once in their life though. People see a goth and automatically assume they must be a devil-worshipping, animal-sacrificing psycho. People see a skinhead and automatically assume they're a neo-nazi. People see a large group of teenagers and automatically assume they must be a trouble-making gang. And so on and so forth.... Basically anyone who's appearance reverts away from the "norm" will be the subject of ridicule from judgemental people.
I've experienced it myself many times. Ages ago when I was hanging out with my ex in this quiet area, a police car pulled up out of nowhere right in front of us (which leads me to think they were watching us earlier) - two pigs came out and began to question us, asking what we were doing there and if we were in possession of any drugs. They searched my ex and were asking him really irrelevant questions. It's really fucking annoying, I've lost count of the amount of times I've been questioned by coppers for doing absolutely nothing.

Re: Judged on appearance..
Cops passed by the house show 29 Times in 2 Hours Lol. I think they raided the place after Me,Ryan, and a few other people left. And we got followed >.>.........I don't really like cops at all.
I don't blame store owners because They might loose their Life or their job.....Cops just do it for fucking no reason.

I hate to say it's because you live in Texas but I moved to Dallas about a year ago and this state has some major cultural voids. Cops will be cops. If they had brains to accompany their hunger for power they would be politicians.

Re: Judged on appearance..
Oh Texas is terrible. I don't really live in Texas, but I am staying for about a week. But from the past times and this time I've been here it gets worse and worse. 3 Years ago it was alright, but it seems to have more unemployed(Face-palm @ Obama) more Dads Dying in Iraq and even more being shipped out. The Racial tension is IMMENSE.... During the show about 20 Black kids came by fulfilling every stereotype in about 3 seconds....and Most of the people at the show were Mexican and hated those kids with a passion. I can see why....

I live in California, but During the Summer I've gone on tour as a Merchandise seller, Roadie, Technician.....And I think I am going to try and work for HellCat or OneSideDummy in the future......(Maybe).
But Boston SUCKS Lol. Except for the few punk bands that come out of there I hated Boston.

Re: Judged on appearance..
Lol its bad in iowa. My buddy sal cant walk thru his part of town without getting questioned by the pigs. Anytime we get together for band practice, cops are driving by the house about every 10 minutes. About 10 years ago i went into a walgreens to buy smokes and a drink: tore up jeans and a green mohawk and got treated like i was gonna light the fucking place on fire. They had a clerk shadowing my ass, i turn around to see these well dressed suburban upper middle kids run out with 2 cases of budwieser. Turned to the clerk and just said 'oops', paid for .y shit and walked out laughing my ass off.

Re: Judged on appearance..
It happens to me all the time, even though I really don't think I dress in a fancy way. Like, security guards follow me at the supermarkets, in railway stations etc...Lately, one of them wanted to see my bill despite I was still next to the checkout (I had just been paying!). Just thought 'Why, for sure man, I go to the checkout but I don't pay...Moron...' but kept calm.
It's just another "délit de sale geule" . Look offense. It only offended me a bit because I really have nothing in common with the real petty 'thieves' and 'troublemakers' from here.

Re: Judged on appearance..
@Rosie. It is too bad That Emo is mainstream Lol. If there are over 50 Gold and platinum albums in a genre, It's probably mainstream.
@Paddyskunk- Lol Walgreen's seems to be a common place for these sort-of Mishaps XD. Funny story
@mariasgarulus- Shut the fuck up. You aren't allowed to post in my Threads. >.>
@SickGirl - Just say "You didn't see me pay, They need Security guards that aren't blind...."

Re: Judged on appearance..
This has happened to me quite a few times at my school. Most of the kids have became my friends now that they know me for me and not the 'punk rocker' they thought. In fact most of my friends are not punk at all. Though I have been faced with threats of trouble like one time I was followed by a pig cruiser for at least a mile FOUR times they went up and down that street. just had my attitude adjustment with a wasted youth patch on the back hah....or it might have been the dominate smokeout smell on me. eh good thing I got picked up or I might have got a ticket D:>. Or when they thought that me n my skate buddies were doin drugs behind the taco bell and we all said the lord was our drug....They sure were confused when they saw me wearing a power from hell onslaught shirt. Oh and some teacher was trying to get me suspended for wearing a too drunk to fuck dead kennedys shirt, I said go ahead, he said he will....havn't been suspended yet ha. And then my teachers both thought I wouldn't do well walking in the 1st day with a jean jacket full of patches. That week I got 100% on the history test and an A on the english essay. I was the best writer in both classes. It sucks to judge people, It will be a very important lesson I will teach my kids some day. Sorry for wall of text.

Marius. I just don't like you. For what reason? Who knows, but for some reason I feel you are a douche bag >.>
Amen Conformstopunk. I walked into High school with a 10 inch Death Hawk and Skin Tight Leather pants. Everyone was like "What the fuck...." and I just smiled and Waved. Everyone was nice, but I was pretty unusual looking I guess. The Teachers thought I had like mental Trauma or something Lol. They treated me like a Special Ed kid and randomly suggested a councilor once or twice, and I got straight A's(1 B) and a 3.7 GPA....The last day of 9Th Grade I wore a Anti-Flag "Fuck The Flag" Backpatch. The Principal still hates me ^.^
